The metal pivots in these are very sturdy and almost invisible. Notice that these hemostats have a locking mechanism under the handles so you can firmly clamp onto something and hold it in place. (These locks are strong; don't use the locks while holding plant stems)!
Mine also came with rubber/silicone tip-covers that go over the interlocking teeth, but I imagine that this "extra" could vary.
I have a tank that is 2 feet (24") deep and these 16" hemostats are the perfect length for planting or reaching objects at the bottom without them knocking into the sides of the tank and without other tank objects obstructing my path much.
You could perform heart surgery with these.
