ALGAECIDE: BLUE-GREEN ALGAECIDE is the solution if you're having a problem with blue-green algae in your tank. This troublesome algae forms dark colored mats on surfaces of plant leaves, tank walls and decorative objects. More closely related to bacteria than to higher plants, this plaque can be stopped with ALGAECIDE.Blue-Green Algaecide will not harm other aquarium plants or fauna under normal conditions. Not for human consumption. 12 capsules per order.

DOSAGE: One capsule per 10 gallons. If blue green algae continues to grow repeat in five days. Do not empty the contents of the capsules directly into the tank. Fill a clean empty pop bottle 3/4 full with tank water. Into that bottle empty the contents of one capsule per each 10 gallons of tank capacity. Place the lid on the bottle and shake vigorously until you have a cloudy mixture without lumps. Turn off all charcoal filtration, ozonation, and U.V. equipment. Pour the contents of the pop bottle over the surface of the tank water trying to get some of the solution in all areas of the tank. If you have air stones or other ways (other than filtration equipment) to keep water circulating, turn these on. If you don't have other means of getting circulation, gently stir the tank water for a few minutes. Make sure it is evenly mixed into the tank water. After 8 hours you can turn the filtration equipment back on. Even after being killed the Blue-Green Algae with not immediately disappear but should stop growing. After 4 or 5 days the algae will begin to deteriorate and can be easily wiped or brushed from surfaces. If after 4 or 5 days, algae growth can still be observed, repeat the treatment. If you notice distress in any of the fauna at any point during the treatments, replace 1/4 to 1/3 of the tank water and apply charcoal filtration. This usually does not occur, in fact the treatment (as described above) can be effective against gram-positive bacterial infections, Pop-Eye, and certain Fungal infections in aquarium fish. It can also effective against Red Algae blooms(SALTWATER)
Cautions: Not for Human Consumption.
For use only in aquariums for treatment of Blue-Green & RED(saltwater) (cyano-bacteria) outbreaks and certain fish diseases. Use latex gloves and eye protection in handling. It worked after a year of effort to balance tanks December 28, 2010
Reviewer: Jean Meske from Okemos, MI United States
I've been trying to balance my tanks for over a year. One treatment with this and all of my bluegreen algae is gone. It's been three months and it hasn't returned.
The only thing I would have liked was more specific dosing instructions. I have a 45 and 90 gal tank. I used about 4/5 of a capsule on the 45, and 1 1/2 on the 90. I was worried about over treating. All of my plants, fish and snails did just fine.

Works well if you do extra care of filtration. July 26, 2010

Just treating the water isn't enough if you have filters and ornaments.  The filter sponges should be taken out and later replaced.  All the bio-media should be soaked in a treated pail of it's own, I did 4 days.  Rinsed like crazy , then let it dry for  3 days with a fan on it.  I had 2 Fluval 405s on the treated 40 gal. breeder tank. I kept the empty filters running to keep circulation going. That is very important.
After 1 week of the tank being treated I put the filters back on with all new sponges and filter floss and the like new bio-media.  Did one 5 gal. pail water change.    I replaced many of the plants in the 40 gal. tank at the same time with plants that take nutrition from the water.  The guys said to put them in the trouble spots like corners in my case, that they would help clean up.
It's been 6 weeks, I've been doing regular water changes for about 3 weeks.  Looks like it worked, didn't have treat a 2nd time.
