MILWAUKEE (SMS122) Co2/pH monitor/controller

Enables the Hobbyist to ensure the optimum use of CO2 additions to his aquarium, and ensure that even when away from home, that the gas will be added when necessary, and only in the amounts required to optimize plant growth. pH PROBE is INCLUDED! The controller is set to maintain a pH of say, 6.5. As plants use up Co2 during the day they release O2 which causes the pH to rise. The controller's probe detects the pH increase and will switch on the solenoid allowing the CO2 to flow into the aquarium until the pH drops just below the pre-set 6.5. It then cuts the solenoid off stopping the flow of Co2. Essentially, this allows the plants to control & optimize Co2 addition to the aquarium based on their own needs.

NOTE: Don't forget to order the buffer solutions for calibrabrating... And, as per the statement below, you may want to consider having a "replacement" probe on hand,
The question most asked about the Milwaukee SMS122 pH/co2 controller: What is the life expectancy of the "replaceable probe?"
Answer straight from the folks at the factory:

Ph probes are a consumable item just like a light bulb. Over a period of time the electrolyte solution becomes so low that a proper read can not be done. The average life is 18 to 24 months so, at this point I would guess that you probably have a dead probe.

You can check the strength of your probe by putting the probe in Windex with Ammonia and the display should go to 10.0 or higher. If your unit can not go to this point then you need to replace the probe and get new calibration solution.

You should calibrate your unit about every 2 to 4 weeks. Calibration solution is not expensive and it assures accuracy.

Bought in conjuction with C02 reg. Hooked up per instructions worked great. Was making clicking noise called Aquariumsplants for help and they fixed MY mistake. Will make clicking noise if hooked up to powerstrip, no ones fault just the way eletricty works. Can hook up to a timer but it has to be the right type, Sometimes you just can't go cheap, if you want it to work right. I would and will buy again when needed.
