BUNCHED PLANTS:

These are sold with a (non) lead strip. Depending upon the particular plant, each "bunch" has from 6-20 stems per bunch. The plants with thicker stems, such as Pennywort have approx 6 stems per bunch. The plants with thinner stems, such as the Mayaca, Baby tears, Wallichii can have as many as 15 or more stems per bunch. Usually, each bunch is approx 3/4" to 1" in diameter at the "(non) lead strip. This should give you a fair idea of the quantity of our bunches. Note: we are reputed as giving very generous portions with our bunch plants.

PLANTING:

Plant each stem in it's own hole...a tweezer with a 1/2" peice of rubber tubing over (to protect the plant) works well for tiny stems when they are planted closely together.

If its emersed shoots are placed directly into an aquarium containing fish or invertebrates, the animals will be poisoned. However, the plant is not at all toxic in its submersed form and may be used without issue once submersed growth is obtained. Since many nurseries growing aquatic plants grow their stock emersed, it's easy to see why it is still so uncommon. That is beginning to change as it becomes more widely traded and sold among hobbyists and online sellers.

This stem plant is much more suitable for aquariums with abundant light and co2. Needs for a great deal of iron It does not place any special demands on the grower and is not particularly susceptible to stunting or any other common problems.

It grows an abundance of side shoots and quickly sprouts new ones from the tops of topped stems. Even individual leaves left to float around the aquarium will grow roots and eventually become new plants, so it bears mentioning that it is not a low maintenance plant.

Hygrophila balsamica needs a lot of room. It can grow to be very large!

Limnophila aromatica 'hippuroides' must be included in "the most decorative bunch plant" category. With it’s numerous long slender leaves and vivid colors this plant is a 'must have'. It is an easy to grow plant that will tolerate most light levels making it an excellent aquarium plant.
