Received 2 Cryptocoryne balansae today and was so pleased. Plants are super healthy and surprising that leaves were about 8 inches long.

easy one October 24, 2016

I bought just one plant to see if it would do well in my tank.  I recieved a tall, thin and brown plant that looked pretty sad.  I gave it a substrate fert to give it a fitting chance and waited.   Within a week or two it started growing one leaf per week at a very steady pace.  Its now looking very healthy and I plan to buy more.

Beautiful and healthy September 14, 2013

I love Crypt Balansae.  Ordered four - these arrived as very healthy specimens, two of which had closely bonded 'sister' plants with them.  Cut off any dying parts and stuck them in with close access to root tabs in the substrate and using Flourish/Flourish Excel in generally recommended dose.  After a couple of days the leaves that were young began to ruffle (as they do under penetrating light - if you give them enough iron and light they go reddish actually, in my experience); a few days later the older (largest) leaves are beginning to die off (so I cut them off) but contributed enough photosynthesis to the plant in the meantime for them all to grow their younger leaves and sprout at least one brand-new leaf each, which are ruffling up beautifully.  Extremely happy with purchase.  (Have bought before, so perhaps I've proved a 'would-buy-again' type of statement.)

Nice little plants March 29, 2011

Not a lot of meat on them, but healthy, and these are plants one wants to let establish themselves anyway.  Price is right.  I will update after some growing time.

Doing very well October 11, 2009
Reviewer: Donna from Los Angeles area
I ordered one plant each of three different Crypts, none of which I have ever grown before, and all three are doing very well.  However, I cannot tell which plant is which because they look so similar- I just know that one is the Balanese variety.  I have metal halide lighting and CO2 supplementation, but the Crypts all seem to do equally well without CO2 and hi-tech lighting, unlike some of the fast growing stem plants.  I like the fact that Crypts grow slower-less time to spending trimming them back.
