Rinse, then dry before adding to tank |

In fact it seems to work better if you rinse quite well, at least 10 minutes of continuous rinsing with a hose nozzle, then put it on plastic or paper sheets to dry in the sun.
When dry it can be added to the tank with less cloudiness. If you don't rinse at all and just dump it in your aquarium will look like you filled it with chocolate milk. And if you think I'm kidding...

Just a word to the wise, when it says to rinse before use, it means that your tank will be the consistancy of mud if you do not rinse it 10 or 12 times. It took me a good two hours to rinse mine, and even with a plate, my tank was still full of dust!
