Sword, Amazon Compacta (Echinodorus bleheri 'compacta')

A gorgeous little amazon sword plant. It's moderately hardy, it is very easy to grow and not very demanding. Use it as a foreground plant in a large aquarium and a midground plant in a small aquarium. Like all sword plants fertilization in the substrate is required. You'll enjoy this little beauty!

a little small July 20, 2012
Reviewer: Brad Darnell from Paducah, KY United States
Mine arrived a little small, maybe 3 inches but it is healthy and they grow fast. 4 stars for a healthy plant none the less.

Hardy plant July 10, 2010
Reviewer: Alex from Mounds View, MN
This variant of amazon sword is really neat. It looks just like a full sized E. Bleheri, but it only gets to about 10" tall. Even with my hard water it grows new leaves once every 2 days. Very hardy plant.

Amazingly small for a sword plant! February 19, 2010
Reviewer: Christopher Brown from Austin, TX United States
This little gem grows amazingly fast but some how remains under six inches!  Quite incredible, especially since it retains the stately elegance of E. bleheri, the archtypical sword plant.  A must have in any South American collection, especially nano aquariums.

My plant arrived beautiful and healthy.

not so compact amazon swords February 17, 2008
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Flesherton, ON Canada
These plants do not stay small.  They look great at the start, but once they start growing, they turn into normal amazon swords.  I have one in my tank that is now over 14" tall.  They were healthy and grow great, but they are anything but compact.

Easy plant April 9, 2007
Reviewer: Bill from Ann Arbor, MI United States
These are great mid to foreground plants that are easy to grow.  Many will have or develop plantlets that can be grown into other plants.
