Description
Vallisneria asiatica var. biwaensis
Bundle of 10 plants. Each plant usually has 2-4 leaves on it.
Corkscrew Vallisneria have long bright green leaves that spiral upward like a corkscrew. They can grow up to 12 to 20 inches tall, making them a great mid or background plant. They have a medium to fast growth rate and reproduce by sending out runners with new plantlets on them.
This spiral-leafed form of Vallisneria was originally brought into the hobby from lake Biwa in Japan. It is a hardy, easy plant, and soon became an aquarium staple.
When planting, be sure not to bury the crown (the base where the leaves meet the roots), as this can cause the plant to rot.
Corkscrew Vallisneria are heavy root feeders so if you do not have a nutrient rich substrate, it is best to use a substrate root tab.
